Camera Features:

The Varicam is the first HD camera capable of variable frame rate recording at the touch of a button, 4 to 60 fps in single frame increments, allowing the operator to ramp up/down during recording.  When acquiring for 24 fps projects, higher than 24 fps operation can be processed for slow-motion effects while slower than 24 fps can be processed to speed up motion. 

This camera is native 720p and has the ability to emulate film by increasing the camera's dynamic range with CineGamma.  CineGamma provides the operator with a much closer approximation of film's renowned ability to maintain smooth image tonality even when gently compressing extreme highlights.
